Obituary from the Wakefield Republican Nov 19, 1953:
Funeral services were held
from the Covenant church on Saturday,
Nov. 14, at 2 o'clock for Mrs.
Gust Wenstrand,who passed
away Thursday, Nov. 12. Rev. M.
Pederson had charge of the servIces
under the direction of the
Bressler Funeral Service.
A short service was held at the
Bressler Funeral Home preceding
the services at the church. Mrs
Clarence Holm sang "Safe in the
Arms of Jesus..
At the church Mrs. Harry Wendel
sang two numbers, one in
Swedish, "En Morgan Uten Synd,"
and "He the Pearly Gates Will
Open". Mrs. M. Pederson accompanied
her at the organ. Mrs. Anna Lovia Wenstrand
was born Anna Lovisa Johnson
Dec, 29,1873, at Smaland, Sweden.
She spent her girlhood days in
Sweden , attending the schools
there. At 19 years of age she came
to America and first stayed at Red
Oak, Iowa. On April 18, 1906, she
was married to Mr. Gust Wenstrand.
To this union were born
three children, Gertrude, who
passed away at three months,
Russell and Kenneth, who both
have grown up in the Wakefield
community. Mrs. Wenstrand lived
47 years in this community.
At her passing she was 79 years,
10 months and 14 days. She began
failing in health during the summer
and two weeks ago was
admitted to the Wakefield Hospital
suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage.
She went to be with the
Lord Nov. 12, at 7:30 in the evening.
Mrs Wenstrand leaves besides her two sons,
three grandsons and two granddaughters,
two brothers, Mr. Carl Johnson of Red Oak
Iowa, and Mr. Gust Nelson of
Wausa, Nebr, other relatives and
a host of friends.
Interment was made in the
Wakefield cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Emil Lund,
Arthur Felt, Reuben Johnson,
Will Borg, Leonard. Fredrickson,
and Paul Bengtson.
Those here from out of town to
attend the funeral were: Mr. and
Mrs. Carl V. Johnson and June,
Red Oak, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Gust
E. Nelson and Myrtle, Wausa; Mr.
and Mrs. Emil Erickson, Norfolk;
Mr. and Mrs, Eugene Erickson,
Omaha; Mr. E.W. Falk Red Oak,
Iowa, and Mrs. Agnes Fredell of
Red Oak.
