Gary L. Gustafson, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gustafson of route 1 , Cambridge died August 29 in Moline Public hospital with injuries incurred in a head on collision at the crest of a shallow hill on Andover Road, about a mile and a half southwest of Cambridge.
He was to be married to Patricia Powell of Atkinson.
Gustafson's cousins were the occupants of the other car. They were Steven Gustafson,12, and his sister, Lynn,16, children of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gustafson, also route 1 , Cambridge.
All three victims were taken to Hammond Henry hospital. They were then taken to hospital in Moline.
Gary Lester Gustafson was born June 29, 1946, in Geneseo.
He was employed at the Kewanee Elevator and had attended Blackhawk East College , Kewanee.
He served in the Army in Germany, and received his discharge in 1968.
Suvivors include his parents, a sister, Mrs Richard DeFend of Charlestown, S. C.; and a brother Robert from Freeport, Il..
Funeral services were held Monday in the Cambridge Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers were Mike Stiner, Kent Burns, James Powell, Gary Bolthouse, Dan Humphrey, and Dave DeKezel.
