William Lawrence Peterson, 44, of 2 Washington Square, Lacon, IL, died at 12:43 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 1990, in
the emergency room at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL, of an apparent heart attack after he collapsed while mowing his father's lawn.
He was born June 9, 1945, in Spring Valley, IL, to Gaylord "Doug" and Evelyn Gustafson Peterson.
Surviving are his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord (Kathryn) Peterson of LaRose, IL, one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Connie) Stecher of Peoria, one son, Todd of Las Vegas, Nevada, two sisters, Mrs. William (Donna) Wood of Lacon and Bethane Young of Marquette Heights, one half sister, Mrs. Mark (Joyce) Meierkord of Lacon, and one step-brother, Charles Rolinski of Groveland. He was preceded in death by his mother.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was an inspector at the Mossville Caterpillar plant where he had been working for the past 28 years. He also was a co-owner of the Lacon Bowling Lanes from 1977 to 1989.
He was a member of UAW Local 974 in East Peoria and its election committee. He was a member of the Greater Peoria Bowlers Association and the Peoria Budwieser's Master League.
He also was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Varna.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at his church, with the Rev. Donna Ruggles officiating. Visitation was from 5 to 8 Monday at Robert Pries Funeral Home in Lacon, IL.
Burial was in Varna First Lutheran Cemetery #2 north of
Varna, IL.
Memorials may be made in the American Heart Association.
