DORIS HARRIET FRISK was born June 11, 1915, the first child of Dallas and Anna (Anderson) Gammel at their farm in the Prairie View area, which was about seven miles east of Oakland and north of Craig. She passed away Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Oakland Heights in Oakland, Nebraska, at the age of 91 years.

Doris started school in a one-room schoolhouse called Prairie View. Her father and all six of his children attended school there at one time or another. She also attended school in the Craig and Tekamah area as her parents resided on different farms.

Doris met Buel Albert Frisk at Bertha in 1933 and they married September 9, 1934, at First Lutheran Church in Oakland. At the time of their marriage, Buel was living with his father on their home place northeast of Oakland. They made their home there for several years. Buel was the only child of Albert and Mary (Wickstrom) Frisk and upon Buel and Doris's marriage, Buel acquired four sisters and a brother. He was eternally grateful for his extended family.

Doris and Buel moved to two different farms near Oakland then once again to a farm called the Jenkins Farm. That is where they lived when their only child, an adorable precious baby girl, Beverly Diane, was born on February 5, 1952.

One December 17, 1962, Doris and Buel had a farm sale and moved to Oakland. They bought a home where Doris lived until moving to Oakland Heights.

Doris and Buel were active members of First Lutheran their entire married lives. Doris served as president of the Dorcas Society and on the funeral lunch committee for several years. She also served as president of the Golden Oaks Senior Center in Oakland.

She was preceded in death by her loyal, devoted husband of 53 years, Buel; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law; brothers-in-law: Harold E. Gerch "Dutch", Harold C. Samson and Robert Kunze.

Doris is survived by her daughter: Beverly Frisk-Fox; son-in-law, Dr. Richard Fox and three grandsons, Daniel, Mitchell and Zachary all from the New York area; sisters: Helen Samson of Valley, Nebraska; Frances Perazzo and her husband, Donald, of Omaha, Nebraska; Marie Gerch of Fort Worth Texas; Shirley Kunze of Portland, Oregon; brother: Harland "Bud" Gammel and his wife, Betty, of Omaha; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and wonderful friends, including special care givers, Genevieve Wolf and Patty Johnson.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, May 21, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland, Nebraska.

VISITATION: Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

BURIAL: Oakland Cemetery
