WATERLOO -- La Roy E. DeHart, 80, of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Feb. 21, of natural causes.
He was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Backus, Minn., son of Emmett and Jessie DeHart. He married Leta Bigelow on Oct. 12, 1940. She died in 1965. He married Verna Erickson on May 11, 1968.
Mr. DeHart was employed at Titus Manufacturing and at John Deere as a tool and die maker.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Marvin of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Sandy Messerer of Waterloo; two stepsons, Mike Erickson of Seattle, Wash., and Doug Erickson of Des Moines; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church.
