His father was possibly James McFarland who was born in November about 1828 in Pennsylvania. Two possible borthers to Sherman were George and Jacob McFarland. All three of the above potential McFarland family members lived in Omaha in 1900. Sherman had at least two confirmed brothers. William who was older and Grant who was about 3 years younger. McFARLAND, Sherman; aged 28; married Anna BERGGREN; aged 31; May 1896; Omaha, Nebraska; license# 4532. Sherman worked as a teamster while living in Omaha. Prior to coming to Nebraska Sherman and his brothers had been farm hands in Illinois. After Sherman passed away in 1909 his brother William lived with Sherman's widow Anna for many years.
