Marlene Melroy Parkin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and devoted friend passed away peacefully October 29, 1996 in Salt Lake City following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 63.

Born October 9, 1933, Pocatello, Idaho, to George William and Bertha Sophie Rosell Mc Melroy. Married Rodney C. Parkin, June 30, 1952.An accomplished dancer and choreographer, Marlene performed throughout the West and later taught tap and modern dance to a generation of children and young adults. She and her sister Joyce operated their own award-winning dance studio for several years in downtown Salt Lake City and later, by herself, in Heber City and Holladay.

Marlene worked for 25 years in the local banking and finance industry and made many friends among her co-workers and clients.

She was devoted to her family and always had a smile on her face and a kind word for those that had the privilege of knowing her.

Survived by her husband, Rod, three sons, Brad C. (Nancy), David R. (Jennifer), Steven M. and one daughter, Pamela Sutton (Randy), plus 11 grandchildren that were the light of her life; brothers Glenn W. McMelroy and Wilford Ward and many nephews, nieces and friends. Preceded in death by brother, Robert E. and sister, Joyce.

Funeral services, Saturday, November 2, 11 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, where friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Lawn.
