Exerts from Obituary for Milton F. "Ole" Olson
Milton F. "Ole" Olson, age 88, did January 16, 2002. A memorial service was held at 10:30AM, Monday, January 21 at the Messiah Lutheran Church at Lindsborg, KS. The Reverend Rolland Christenson and the Reverend Don Hawk officiated. Burial was at the Elmwood Cemetery at Lindsborg. The congregation sang, "how Great Thou Art," "Beautiful Savior and "Children of the Heavenly Father."
Ole was born March 9, 1913 at Sterling, Colorado, the son of Oscar William and Jennie Sophia Anderson Olson. He spent his early years as a farm boy in Kansas. In 1935 he attended Bethany College at Lindsborg, where he earned a degree in music. He taught music until he joined the Navy.
He married Marion F Zang in May of 1946 at Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. In 1947 he returned to teaching music at Lindsborg High School. They moved to Los Angeles, CA where he attended the University at Southern California graduate school. He taught at El Segundo High School. Marion preceded him in death in 1969. Ole married Thyra Lysell on June 4, 1971 at Los Angeles. He retired from teaching in 1976 and returned to Lindsborg to make his home. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Thyra.
